Once the attorney-client relationship has been established (with very few exceptions), all conversations between attorney and client are confidential. This means that discussions cannot be disclosed by the attorney without permission by the client. We respect this private relationship. As such, we will not confer with our adult or older minor clients in the presence of family members or friends. The client must be comfortable and should not feel the need for external "moral support" while speaking with the attorney. Otherwise, a free exchange of ideas and opinions could be impaired and the confidential nature of the relationship could be compromised.
